This is the Fantasy Fashions doublet pattern, made with some lightweight vinyl. Sewing it put my sewing machine at some risk, but it was very light material and I think the machine has survived the experience. I'll be adding some skirting to the bottom of the garment and a couple of big leather buttons to the front, but that's all.

The pattern was very easy to sew - once cut, the garment was put together in less than three hours, although I cheated outrageously by skipping the lining, as I intend to make a shirt to be worn beneath the doublet anyways.

Tip for sewing vinyl - I have discovered that low-temperature hot-glue makes for a great temporary bond between vinyl surfaces, instead of pins. It's not worth a darn for a lasting bond (although it works fine on the wrong - fuzzy - side of the vinyl, which makes it good for helping seams lie flat) but it was good for temporarily holding pieces in place while sewing. I had to resort to pins for setting the collar and sleevecaps, but that's all.
