With the future of the Babylon Project still in doubt after the mysterious disappearance of the Babylon 4 station, the CEO of Steincorp today announced that the company’s mining facility at Orion Seven would be modified to house a small number of diplomatic personnel from the Earth Alliance, the Centauri Centarum, the Narn Khar'i, representatives of the League of Non-Aligned Worlds, and even representatives of the Minbari Government.

“The need for a place for our respective governments to meet and work out our differences, especially in the wake of the continuing failure of the Babylon Project, is more critical than ever,” Steincorp CEO Maxwell Stein said at a press conference today, on-site at Steincorp Station.  “My donation of facilities for that purpose is only a small part in the greater picture, but I’m happy to make it if it’ll do us all some good.”

“The Babylon Project is still alive and kicking, but if Mr. Stein wishes to offer his station as an interim solution, I don’t see how we can refuse,” stated Senator Natawe, leader of the Nigerian nation and the most vocal proponent of the Babylon Project.  Personally responsible for the proposal for the Project, as well as the Chairman of the Babylon Oversight Committee, Senator Natawe has faced harsh criticism from opposition leaders in EarthDome for the continuing failure of the Project, which may delay or even cause to be cancelled the construction of the next station, Babylon 5.  Should that happen, Stein would be in an excellent position to formalize an agreement with EarthDome, as well as the participating governments….

Revealing hitherto undisclosed codicils of an agreement between EarthDome and the Minbari government, it was announced today that the administration of the Steincorp Station diplomatic mission would be given over to Earthforce, and that the request came directly from the Minbari ambassador to the Earth Alliance.

“We have always been in agreement with your government that the eventual administration of any diplomatic mission would be given over to Earthforce,” stated Ambassador Jorin, Minbari representative to Earth, at the press conference announcing the decision.

The Minbari announced that Commander Jeffery Sinclair, a survivor of the Battle of the Line, was their choice to head the Earthforce contingent, but because Commander Sinclair is currently stationed at the Rim, and will be unavailable for several months, the Minbari agreed to accept Earthforce Commander Robert Katkovsky, former commander of the Hyperion-Class Cruiser Artemis, until Sinclair completes his mission.  Ms. Sizra Bozern, a civilian mediator employed by Steincorp, Inc, will assist Commander Katkovsky.

Also announced were the representatives of the major governments (representatives for the League of Non-Aligned Worlds were unavailable at press time).  They are: Ambassador Jorin, Minbari representative; Ambassador E’Tal, Narn representative as well as a member of the Narn ruling council, the Khar'i and Ambassador Castig Altanio, Centauri representative…
