The Great Landsraad, governing body of a million worlds, meets only once every five years - barring exceptional circumstances, of course. More convenient and more relevant are the conventions of the Sysselraad - the smaller sectors which compromise the Landsraad. A dozen worlds - a small slice of the Corrino Empire - are meeting to determine local policy whilst renewing mutual acquaintances, alliances and hatreds.

Of course, the Emperor has a very long arm, to say nothing of the Bene Gesserit and the Spacing Guild. Why are such mighty forces converging upon what should be a routine meeting of provincial worlds?

Then again, the meeting is hardly routine... The Great House Joradine has been wiped out in a biological attack which violated all the rules of kanly and warfare, and a most unseemly scramble for the House's assets will be resolved this evening. The resolution will be overseen by a Judge of the Imperial Court and Duke Justin Atreides has taken a personal interest in this matter - hardly a surprise given his reputation for strict morality and his alliance with the extinct House.

Furthermore, three Minor Houses are petitioning for Great House status and admission to CHOAM. To compound matters, a CHOAM audit is also occurring - an event which occurs only once every twenty years - and the redistribution of CHOAM shares can make or break a house.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that both the Tleilaxu and the Ixians might make an appearance... More alarming still is the word that the fief of Arrakis is about to change hands as part of some particularly malicious scheme by the Imperium. After all, it can't be a coincidence that the Emperor's grandson - the Heir Presumptive - is present this evening...

Where lies the truth? Only time will tell...

Please note: this event is set 500 years before the commencement of Frank Herbert's series - so the players have a chance to have some real fun with the history of the Corrino Empire!

Post-Game Thoughts (5/31/04)

Much to Johanna's relief (this game was her baby, in particular) the game went off at KublaCon 2004 without too many hitches. She only wrote herself into a corner on one plot, and that's not so bad... The players stated that they had a great time, and we got lots of pictures, too! Overall, we're very happy with how the game went, and how it was received.

There is a chance that this game might be re-run at BayCon 2005. Keep an eye on this site for further developments.
