Deep Secrets

When the Woods Hole Institute discovered the wreck of the 16th Century ship Bonnie Bess, they knew they had an unparalleled opportunity in the field of marine archeology. Alas, underwater excavation isn't cheap, and - as usual - Woods Hole turned to academia for support. To the directors' surprise, Miskatonic University immediately stepped up with an offer to underwrite the entire expedition.

A few months later, some of the best minds of both institutions set out on the newly commissioned research-sub - the Cousteau - to re-locate and excavate the Bonnie Bess. The expedition is not risk-free - underwater archeology is a challenging field - but surely the potential rewards will be worth it?

Player Notes

Locale
Our plans to run this game at KublaCon '02 were scuttled when we discovered that the larp space at that convention was to be a pavilion-style tent. We might be good at establishing ambiance, but we aren't that good. We couldn't turn a noisy tent at midday into a quiet submarine near the bottom of the Carribean... So Deep Secrets has been briefly postponed. Look for it - we hope - some time in 2005

Schedule
Uncertain. We suggest you join our mailing list if you want to be informed of this game's status.

Dues
Unknown. If run at a convention, this event will be a part of the official program. If not, dues will be charged to cover costs.

System
Usually, we run our games with Cthulhu Live! 2nd edition rules. However, we are contemplating running this event totally free-form - the PCs will have extensive backgrounds to refer to, but no actual 'numbers'. Johanna and Alex have played in several free-form games in the past year, and have been very impressed with the results. Bear with us, if we run with it, it will be very cool, we assure you!

Joining the Game
All characters will be pre-generated.

Costuming
We encourage players to bring costuming for this event! Since it is a modern-day setting, that shouldn't be difficult for anyone. The PCs will be on a small submarine and the are either members of the Woods' Hole Institute or Miskatonic University. Practical work clothing, jeans and shirts, and the occasional bit of tweed (for you exceedingly-academic types) should do just fine. You might want to pack a sweater, too - but you can probably leave the wetsuit at home...
